Meet the Team

Brian McCormick – Managing Director

After completing his Higher National Diploma in Building Services in 1988, Brian has gained considerable experience from his Mechanical & Electrical consultancy and contracting background, prior to joining Atherton & Partners Ltd. in 1996. In 2006, Brian became the Managing Director and gained control of the company. Brian is an Associate Member of the CIBSE and is registered as an Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council. Brian has also successfully completed an IOSH Safety for Senior Executives course.

Karen McCarthy – Company Secretary

As Company Secretary, Karen is responsible for all accounting procedures and financial matters and general office administration. Karen has been with the company since 1991 and is currently studying for her Diploma in Accounting Level 4, to enhance and develop her knowledge of this complex field even further.

Mike Oxton – Mechanical Contracts Manager

Mike started in the plumbing industry in 1990 as an apprentice at Atherton & Partners. After qualifying, Mike worked both at home and abroad on mainly Commercial / Industrial projects. After running his own subcontract Mechanical Installation company for 8 years, Mike re-joined Atherton & Partners as a Mechanical Contracts Manager bringing a wealth of experience to the role. Mike is a Gas Safe engineer and has his SMSTS Certificate.

Paul Cooper – Mechanical Contracts Manager

Paul started on site in 2005 as a plumber and has worked his way up, first as Supervisor on site and then as a Contracts Manager in the office. Paul is extremely motivated and enthusiastic and he has successfully completed several high profile projects since moving into the office environment.

Nicky McCormick – Technical Admin & CAD Technician

Nicky gained her Higher National Certificate in Building & Civil Engineering Studies in 1989. Nicky joined Atherton & Partners Ltd. in 2002 and is responsible for assisting in the preparation of designs, estimates and Operating & Maintenance Manuals. Nicky is also proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2012 for producing working and As Fitted drawings. In 2015 Nicky successfully completed a Revit MEP Course and in 2016, a Family Creation Course, and has experience in producing clash detected, coordinated 3D models using shared data from a common data environment (CDE) in order to deliver BIM projects.

Steve Dunne – Electrical Contracts Manager

Steve has proven supervisory experience in managing large teams of multi-trade operatives in both commercial and industrial arenas. Steve has strong communication skills and a wide range of qualifications including:- Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification, 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations, Construction Site Supervisor’s Safety Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely and is an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor.

Nick Winsor – Electrical Estimator & CAD Technician

Nick completed his National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 2001 and shortly after completed an Advanced Computer Aided Design course. Nick joined Atherton & Partners Ltd. in 2013 and is responsible for the Electrical estimates using Estimating Contract Master Plus and SEC, and also produces Electrical designs and Electrical drawings using AutoCAD 2012. In 2015 Nick successfully completed a Revit MEP Course and in 2016, a Family Creation Course, and has experience in producing clash detected, coordinated 3D models using shared data from a common data environment (CDE) in order to deliver BIM projects.

Jan McGrann – Receptionist

Jan is our Receptionist and is the first point of contact you will have with our organisation. Jan is very organised, efficient and friendly and will direct your call to the relevant member of staff. If you wish to visit our offices Jan will give you a warm welcome.

Liam Lawson - Award

It is with great pleasure that we announce that one of our 1st year apprentices, Liam Lawson, has been awarded Electrical Apprentice of the Year in the BESA North West Region Awards 2017. The award was presented at a gala dinner at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on 25th February 2017. Liam is a 1st year apprentice studying at Wirral STEM Centre, which was also a project completed by Atherton & Partners. Liam, a first time applicant, did very well to beat off competition from four 4th year apprentices. We wish him well in his continued studies.
